DigInTraCE continues to contribute to European discussions on standardisation and circular plastics.

On 7 July 2026, οur project partner Centexbel presented the DigInTraCE project and the progress achieved under Task 5.4 – Fingerprints and Markers for Recycled Material Content during a meeting of CEN/TC 249/WG 11 – Plastics Recycling, one of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) working groups dedicated to plastics recycling and recycled plastics standards.

The presentation, entitled “Plastics Recycling Traceability – Characterization of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) recyclates”, introduced the objectives of DigInTraCE and highlighted ongoing research on innovative fingerprints and markers for identifying and verifying recycled material content. These technologies support improved traceability, quality assurance and transparency across plastic value chains, contributing to the transition towards a more circular economy.

Participating in standardisation activities is an important aspect of DigInTraCE, ensuring that the project’s research outcomes are shared with European experts and can support the future development of harmonised standards for recycled plastics.
